POST FLAG MEMORIAL
In 2014 when our Post purchased the former Social Security Building at 712 Park Avenue, it lacked having a flag pole outside. Seemed kind of silly that there was a federal building that didn't have a flag pole, or they took it with them when they built the new building directly behind the old building. Either way, in 2016 a committee was formed to fix the situation.
The end result is a beautiful Flag Memorial with the centerpiece being a 30 foot aluminum flag pole which was graciously donated by a member from Post 36. The memorial has a headstone in front of the flag pole representing the American Legion and the military branches of service.
The plaza area in front of the headstone is an area to honor veterans by purchasing a granite stone and personalizing it for the honored veteran.
To be honored in the plaza area:
- The honored veteran CAN be alive or deceased.
- The honored veteran DOES NOT need to be a member of the American Legion.
- The honored veteran DOES NOT have to be a resident of West Bend, Washington County, or Wisconsin.
The ONLY requirement is that the veteran served with HONOR and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED.
Granite stones are available in three sizes: 8x4, 8x8 and 12x8.
Pricing which includes installation are:
- 8x4 - $100
- 8x8 - $200
- 8x12 - $300
